Toms River’s Beach Communities

As we begin the 4th of July weekend, I thought it only appropriate to feature the “Beach Communities” in Toms River, NJ.  Unless, you may be interested in the “Left Coast” of North County San Diego and/or Downtown Huntington Beach?  These communities are located on the northern end of the Barnegat Peninsula, just above Seaside Heights, and they have some of the most fantastic “Beach Homes” and picturesque ocean beaches in all of New Jersey!

Ortley Beach

Welcome to Ortley Beach!

Let’s start in Ortley Beach and work our way north…

Ortley Beach is probably the most well know and most visited beach in Toms River.  Bordering Seaside Heights to the south, and Lavallette to the north, Ortley Beach is less than a square mile in area but it is packed full of summer fun!  According to it’s website, Ortley Beach is home to approximately 1,600 year round residents and probably 10 times that number between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Normandy Beach, Ocean Beach, Chadwick Beach and Silver Beach…

All of these private beach communities run north along the Atlantic Ocean toward Bay Head and Point Pleasant Beach, NJ.  Collectively, they are home to approximately 1,800 year round residents but bloom into some of the most popular and populated beach communities during the summer months.  Together, these “Beach Communities” comprise what is referred to as the “Dover Beaches North” section of Toms River, NJ.  Toms River Township was previously known as Dover Township until November of 2006.

Best of Both Worlds!

What really makes the “Beach Communities” of Toms River, NJ, so special?  Not only are they home to some of the most spectacular Ocean-Front real estate in New Jersey, but residents (and visitors alike) benefit from their geographic location.  Located on the northern tip of the Barnegat Peninsula, these Toms River “Beach Communities” lie between two great bodies of water; the Barnegat Bay and Atlantic Ocean.  So, if the ocean is too rough, spend the day on the bay!
